Meet Dr. Failey
Florham Park board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Colin Failey, is a cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon of the breast, body, face, and skin. Dr. Failey is fully trained in the broad art of plastic surgery and has learned the most current techniques for producing natural-looking surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic rejuvenation. He thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to enhance each patient’s inherent beauty through the careful selection of individualized treatments. He has the expertise and technical skill necessary to perform an array of cosmetic procedures and has made life-changing transformations for countless patients.
Dr. Failey has had extensive training in aesthetic plastic surgery and he expertly performs many operations including breast augmentation, tummy tucks, and mommy makeovers. Dr. Failey also has a special interest in non-surgical aesthetic rejuvenation where he focuses on injectables like Botox™, Voluma™, and Kybella™, and devices like Coolsculpt™ and Fraxel skin resurfacting.
Dr. Failey is equally passionate about changing the lives of women who require breast reconstruction following a partial or complete mastectomy for breast cancer. His dual training in plastic and general surgery allows him to better understand the complexities of the surgical management of the breast so that he can help guide his patients through this challenging process. Dr. Failey is able to offer his patients the full spectrum of breast reconstruction procedures, from implant-based options to the most advanced microvascular DIEP and free-TRAM flaps. Reconstructive surgery under the skillfully trained hands of Dr. Failey creates natural looking, fully restored breasts.
Education and Training
Dr. Failey received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and went on to complete an intensive six-year general surgery program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. His passion for plastic surgery led him to dedicate one full year of this training to research where he investigated methods to speed and improve wound healing in a laboratory funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). His efforts earned him a coveted spot in the plastic surgery training program at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Failey is double-board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He has also been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Failey was proud to participate in Operation San Jose where he traveled to Guayaquil, Ecuador to help repair congenital facial deformities in infants and children. He researched and authored a paper that was published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal documenting the excellent outcomes that can be achieved when total IV sedation is used for anesthesia in an office-based operating room.
“My job is to listen to the patient and figure out how I can bring out the best person they see in themselves without turning them into someone else.”
Dr. Failey currently serves as the Secretary of the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is also the current Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson-Somerset Medical Center and is on the Volunteer Clinical Faculty at Rutgers Medical School.
