If over-the-counter skincare products are no longer proving effective but you don't want surgical procedures, consider minimally invasive and nonsurgical skin rejuvenation treatments such as microneedling. The Peer Group in Morristown, NJ performs microneedling (collagen induction therapy) at our office. Microneedling uses many fine needles to effectively and safely make micro-injuries in the skin. The micro-injuries created prompt the natural production of elastin and collagen, two nutrients that contribute to the health and appearance of the complexion. Make an appointment for a consultation at The Peer Group to learn more about the results of microneedling and how to personalize your procedure for your skin needs and goals.
Microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a form of microneedling often referred to as a vampire facial. The PRP serum is made from your own blood, so the growth factors and other nutrients can deeply nourish the skin when applied to the channels created by the microneedling. This type of microneedling is suggested for mature skin with advanced signs of aging.

"Outstanding plastic surgeon, with a very professional and caring approach."- Anonymous / RateMDs / Jan 19, 2020
"Dr. Colon is an excellent plastic surgeon. He is extremely skilled with a sharp aesthetic eye. I trust him completely with everything and have recommended him to many friends. In addition, he is honest, forthright and will not perform any procedures or tweak anything he feels unnecessary. That is important, as some doctors push procedures that aren't needed strictly for the business. The staff at The Peer Group are all wonderful, warm and caring as well."- N.A. / Yelp / Jan 17, 2020

The microneedling treatment at The Peer Group begins with a thorough cleansing of the skin. A growth factor serum is then applied which is infused or “needled” into the skin. The final step is to place a mask of moisturizing products onto the treated area to seal and protect the skin. The procedure is the same for the vampire facial, or microneedling with platelet-rich plasma, except that the growth serum is taken from your own blood and applied to the skin.
What to Expect
After treatment, your skin will be slightly pink and may have some red areas for a day or two. You can resume your normal skincare routine and apply makeup a day after treatment. A series of 4 – 6 microneedling sessions are typically recommended at 4 – 6 week intervals for the best outcome and long-term skin benefits.

Who Performs the Treatment?
Our microneedling specialists are registered nurses with experience in plastic surgery and skincare. Before the treatment, we will perform a thorough consultation to determine the best treatment plan for your needs and goals. This may mean combining the microneedling with platelet-rich plasma or a vitamin-infused serum.
You may be a candidate for microneedling treatments if you experience light or medium complexion issues, like a decrease in elasticity or rough skin texture. Collagen induction therapy procedures may also minimize the look of scars, stretch marks, and pores. Be aware you may have to wait a while before seeing improvements from your microneedling procedure, because the elastin and collagen require some time to show their impact on the complexion; however, you will develop results that look natural and gain healthier overall skin.
Can Other Areas Be Treated?
In addition to treating the face, microneedling and microneedling with platelet-rich plasma can be used on the neck and chest and to improve scars and stretch marks.
Is It Painful?
Some of our patients have described microneedling as uncomfortable, but not painful. Our goal is to maximize your comfort, so a cream is applied to numb the skin prior to your treatment. This allows us to provide the most effective treatment while keeping you comfortable.
