There’s a new, FDA-approved option for targeting dynamic wrinkles in 2023: DAXXIFY™. New Jersey’s The Peer Group has offered this injectable, peptide-formulated neuromodulator since shortly after its release in 2022 for patients who want to maintain smoother, younger-looking skin.
Our facial movements—including squinting, smiling, frowning, and furrowing of the brow—contribute to the formation of certain types of lines called dynamic wrinkles. During these habitual facial movements, the muscles contract and the skin moves, often folding into creases. When we’re younger, the skin snaps back into place after the muscles relax again, but as we get older, the skin can’t bounce back as easily. Dynamic wrinkles become more pronounced as a result. These types of wrinkles are most visible when we’re expressing emotions such joy, sadness, worry, anger, and surprise. DAXXIFY™ targets these types of wrinkles, specifically between the eyebrows.

Procedure
DAXXIFY™, which is known as daxibotulinumtoxinA-land, is an injectable that works in the same way as BOTOX® and other botulinum toxin type A wrinkle relaxers. Simply put, it blocks certain chemical signals from the nerves that tell the muscles to contract.
Injections of DAXXIFY™ cause certain muscles to temporarily relax as a way of reducing wrinkles. Since the muscles will not be able to move the way they normally do, the associated wrinkles will appear less pronounced. Neuromodulators are temporary treatments, so the effects will wear off over time. Patients can choose further injections to maintain the skin-smoothing effects.
One of the main advantages of DAXXIFY™ is that it’s the longest-lasting botulinum toxin injectable with a duration of six months on average for most patients. Most people will only need to have two treatments to preserve year-long results. Studies have shown that the effects of this injectable can even last for as long as nine months for some patients.
Another thing that sets DAXXIFY™ apart from other neuromodulators is that it is made from peptides or amino acids instead of any human or animal products. The peptide exchange technology that delivers the botulinum toxin to the nerve cells is what increases the duration of its effectiveness.
Treatment
DAXXIFY™ is FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe glabellar lines. These are also known as frown lines, and they develop as vertical lines between the eyebrows. They are caused by the contractions of small muscles between the eyebrows and the forehead.
Recovery
Side effects are minimal and similar to those from other neuromodulators. Expect minor redness, swelling, bruising, and similar injection-related effects to last for a short while.
Results
The first signs of results may be noticeable within just two days of the treatment. Patients will see a completely or nearly wrinkle-free injection area develop, with the “ultimate” results visible within days.
Cost
Your provider will discuss details related to pricing with you during your consultation for DAXXIFY™. Patients will usually need maintenance injections every six months to preserve the results, which will affect the cost of this treatment.
Available Options
The Peer Group provides a complete range of neuromodulators for treating dynamic wrinkles, including BOTOX®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau™. Not all facial wrinkles are the same. For static wrinkles, which are lines that are always visible in the skin—even when the face is at rest—facial fillers like Juvéderm® and Restylane® are the better option. Fillers add plumpness and lift to areas of the skin that need volume to minimize static facial wrinkles or hollows.
