FAQ

What Is Cellulite, and How Does Avéli Work to Smooth It?

Cellulite develops when fat cells accumulate under the skin and tough, connective cords among them pull the skin’s surface downward. This is what causes uneven dimpling on areas such as the thighs, hips, and buttocks. Cellulite is a highly common condition that more than 90 percent of women have. Although it doesn’t cause any discomfort, some people dislike the way it looks.

Avéli targets the root of cellulite dimpling below the skin. This treatment works under the surface by severing the septa or tightened cords around the divots or dimples. Avéli is designed to reduce the number of septa or bands underneath the skin that cause cellulite dimples. This is the first and only technology of its kind that can identify and release the bands with a high level of precision. Dimples on the thighs and buttocks can be treated in a single in-office visit.

What To Expect After The Avéli Procedure?

Avéli is a single in-office procedure that involves local anesthesia and takes around an hour on average. However, the exact timing will vary depending on your personalized treatment plan.

There is little downtime needed after. Most patients resume their normal activities within a day or two. Common side effects include mild discomfort, bruising, and tenderness to the touch. Patients will typically see noticeable results within one month or when the bruising and swelling subside. It’s recommended that you take time to allow the area to heal. Avoid strenuous activities or workouts within the first days or weeks following the treatment. We can provide other post- procedure guidelines.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Avéli?

Avéli can be ideal for patients who are seeking treatments that provide a long-term reduction in cellulite dimples. It’s important to recognize that this procedure is specifically designed for cellulite and will not treat other cosmetic concerns such as skin laxity or pockets of excess fat. Avéli works best for people who have dimples, but it will not be as effective on rolls or wavy areas of fat that are caused by excess fat deposits. It’s best for people who have good skin elasticity. It may work best for removing mild or shallow dimples, but it may minimize deeper dimples without getting rid of them entirely.
